About Jim Grady

My love of the outdoors is a primary source of ideas and inspiration for my work. Since boyhood, I’ve loved exploring whatever woods and fields surrounded the various places my family has lived. So it was very natural for the majority of my earlier subject matter to be of animals, leaves, landscapes and florals. My enjoyment and fascination with natural objects is still a major source of inspiration. Many of my paintings deal with the exciting interplay of light and color I find in nature.

I’ve also been greatly influenced by the Impressionists in my use of color – but I continue to learn from the work of others, especially from books I read. The top three artists whose work I’ve admired and studied are John S. Sargent, Richard Schmid, and James Gurney

I’ve been fortunate to have won numerous awards and have been represented by several galleries and art consulting firms throughout the country.  My works currently hang in many private and corporate collections all over the United States and abroad.
